Assessment Deferrals

At the ACT, we encourage you to book your on-demand assessment when you feel you are ready to take the exam.

However, we understand that sometimes things happen in life that you were not expecting, preventing you from taking your assessment. If you need to defer your assessment, it has an administrative burden and additional costs for the ACT.

In order to defer your assessment, you will need to complete the application form and pay a deferral fee.

Below we have listed important points you need to be aware of, in order to use the deferral service:

• the deferral fee only applies to one assessment, for example CertT Unit 1, and you will be required to pay the deferral fee for each assessment you wish to defer
• if you cannot sit the assessment on the day you have deferred to, you will be treated as absent, and you will need to rebook your assessment at the full price
• for on demand, you are only able to defer to a date within the next three months. If you wish to book outside of that timeframe, you will need to book the assessment at the full price
• for session based, you are only able to defer to the next assessment window. If you wish to book outside of that timeframe, you will need to book the assessment at the full price
• the deferral fee is non-refundable.

The lastest time to defer is 4 whole days before the exam for on demand and 10 working days before the assessments for session based assessments.

If your request is received after the above timeframe, we are unable to change your assessment. You will need to rebook your assessment and pay the fee.

Once you have submitted and paid the deferral fee, this is non-refundable. If you apply but do not meet the criteria above, the fee is non-refundable and you will be told that your application is not approved and you will need to rebook at the full price.

If you do not meet the criteria above, please re-book your assessment through the normal booking forms.
